I worked in the ER and the burn and trauma unit back in 82 thru 89. I remember Dr Mazil and his wife checking the linen cabinet and counting the towels because they thought staff was stealing them. I lived in the apartments connected to the hospital. Cheap rent back then only 145.00 a month plus 3 meals a day if you wanted to eat there. My first job as a RN and I will never forget it. How sad to see the pictures of what happened to it.

Victor and Adeline Arrigo were close friends of the Gardner-Muratori family, who lived below the Libonati's on Loomis. Adeline baby sat for my brother and I, and we continued the friendship even when we moved to Edgebrook-Wildwood on the NW side. I have photos of me, my dad, Victor and Libonati on the back porch/fire escape from about 1947.

I too have fond memories from elementary school, I would really like to send Mr. Wilson a thank you letter. Mr Wilson was my 8th grade teacher - graduated in '89. Does anybody know a way to get a letter of appreciation to him?

I went there to see it today. I was born there in 1960. There is scaffolding going down one side of the building, broken windows on lower level.

I was very sad to here such a thing has happened to this hospital. Does anyone know any long time employees of the hospital that may have worked there during 1988/89 ? I can be reached at Fairgate@Mail2world.com

This was formerly Electro-Motive Division's "Plant 2", where heavy fabrications were done. EMD pulled out in the mid-1980s (?). Prior to that, I believe it was part of Pullman.
