  • Brewster Place Apartments, Paul (guest) wrote 19 years ago:
The original Lincoln Park Palace, this grand 9 story monster of granite and steel was built in 1893, and was an early example of skeleton frame construction. While the facade retains its turn of the century beauty, the open atrium inside is the real work of art. Walking into the entry way off Pine Grove reveals nine stories of open space, interlaced with steel and glass catwalks, and capped off with a skylight. The building's association and engineering staff work diligently to maintain its historical beauty, while individual homeowners create unique living spaces in each of the 90+ units.

Designed by Rem Koolhaas (Office for Metropolitan Architecture) in conjunction with Holabird and Root. This building revitalized the campus in the early 2000's.

  • Davis Theater, Chris (guest) wrote 19 years ago:
the Davis is the sort of movie theatre you remember going to before the megaplexes took over with their garish neon soul-less corporate sponsors. The Davis features an eldery lady at the ticket window and the no-frills approach to movie viewing. The seats in most of the theatres are set at an angle (with on side higher than the other), but for a neighborhood theatre within the heart of Lincoln Square, you can't complain. They offer newly released movies for a reasonable rate.
